Maui Condo Prices Soar
November 07, 2014

 Maui condo prices soared last month -- the median condo price was up 17% in October 2014 compared to a year ago.  Residential home prices were also up, 4 percent over a year ago. With interest rates staying at historic lows, we believe this trend will hold and possibly continue into the coming winter season.   A year ago in our open houses we saw a lot of people coming in willing to stay on the sidelines. Now, we are seeing more buyers, seriously considering owning a second home or making the move to our island home.   Inventory continues to be extremely limited.  The combination of strong demand, low inventory and incredibly low interest rates is very bullish.  Time will tell!   For more information on the sales from last month, take a look at the Pacific Business News article here ;

Kapalua Sales soar
Kapalua Resort is making a combeack
October 07, 2014

 We love Kapalua and have been waiting for the comeback of this amazing resort. It looks like it might be happening -- after some rough years, the resort is poised for a return to it's former glory.  See the report on the link here

We have a 1 bedroom, 2 bath unit listed at The Ridge at Kapalua for $735,000.  It is our personal unit which we also manage ourselves. It enjoys a great ocean view with extended views up the coast of Kapalua and the outer island of Molokai.  Call us for rental information or for real estate in the Kapalua Resort.  We absolutely love it!

Our weekend at Honua Kai - perfect!
Our weekend at the Honua Kai Resort and Spa in Kaanapali
October 06, 2014

 We recently had the opportunity to combine work with sheer pleasure at the spectacular Honua Kai Resort and Spa in Kaanapali.   This luxury residence resort is a rare blend of sophistication with childhood wonder and fantasy.   Set on the white sandy beach of North Kaanapali, it has everything you can imagine and want in a luxury resort from spacious modern condos to amazing pools, spa facilities, restaurants, grocery store and beach side activities.

Our weekend started with a Friday evening sunset pupu party at the developer's majestic oceanfront unit that had by far the largest, most expansive,  open lanai that exists in the islands.  The 180 degree views from the unit and the lanai are breathtaking of the coastline, the outer islands and of course, the sun dipping into the blue Pacific.  Unit 501 is exquitely furnished with 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and 2,650 square feet. The lanai itself is 3,200 square feet perched above the ocean.  Amazing!  $6 million is the asking... not hard to see why.

Our 2 bed/2bath unit was on the second floor and had a lovely ocean view through the inner courtyard. The courtyard itself is handsomely landscaped and we enjoyed the sounds of the fountain on our own spacious lanai.  The unit was luxury all the way -- from the teak and travertine flooring to the luxurious furnishings, Bosch state of the art appliances, gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, down to the linens, sheets and my favorite bath shampoos and soaps.   Flatscreen tv's in every room meant we could have easily entertained our family with extra space for quiet book reading, lanai sunning and relaxing throughout.

It was great we were able to experience this resort because prior to our visit we didn't really "get it" as to why Honua Kai sales were so hot.   Now, we do!  The residences are luxurious, spacious and detailed.  The beachfront is one of the best sandy white beaches in Maui.  Duke's restaurant is exactly as you want it to be -- great food with glowing tiki torches. And the staff was perfectly trained from the pool help to the concierge and the valets. But that's not the end of the story -- the vacation rental income from these properties is astounding.  That's part of the reason the developer inventory is 90% sold out.  Resales are starting to come on line but they don't last long.  Now we know why...

We loved our experience on the west side, from the resort to the Star Noodle restaurant, to the art hunting under the Banyan tree and a great breakfast wharfside at Koa's.  But our favorite was still walking hand in hand down the beach remembering what it felt like to be on Maui for the first time.  After 25 years, it's hard to come up with a place that brings that kind of memory.  Honua Kai delivered.
